It feels just like yesterday to me,Ā
2018 when I and my friends would sit down and lament about how we were going to be able to make it and hit our dreams. We had been pushing the entrepreneur dream for up to 4 years and nothing had stick, no major success at all!
We were usually dead broke and even sometimes collected noodles, bread and eggs on credit.Ā
We were students and the only survival was the money we got from home.
Infact, we tried different kinds of business including selling, ofada and ewa agonyin by the road side using a very tacky wooden stand.Ā
You would see one of the pictures we took while carrying the stand from the carpenter’s place.Ā
Funny thing is with all the stress, this business made only N8000 in profit in a month of which we used it to pay the sales girl we employed!
Was this how we would continue? Is this how our life would be? Oftentimes we would lament.
At this point all I wanted was a business that will do N100k monthly.
That money was big to me and that’s all I wanted.
This quickly changed when I came across a guy who I would work with for a few weeks. He ran a shopify ecommerce website selling men’s shoes and employed me to manage his facebook ads campaign.
Note, because of my different hustle over the years, I had experiences running facebook ads and building ecommerce websites but I couldn’t use it to make anything tangible because I lacked THE RIGHT KNOWLEDGE.
Working for this guy I saw him run a store that was generating N500k daily. My mind was blown. He would just tell me what to do on the ads and I would execute and see how sales were coming!
I couldn’t believe this! I had never seen that kind of money in my life!!
What did this guy know? So I summoned the courage to ask him as my boss how he did it.
Luck soon smiled on me as this guy was one of the very few people that i would know to share information with someone who was contracted to work for him (Me)
This was one of the point I knew that beyond any information, THE RIGHT INFORMATION WILL SET YOU FOR LIFE
This guy was open to me and even encouraged me to open a store and test it out!
And Iām till today forever grateful to him and that opportunity to work with himĀ
He had told me what to do, I had seen it being done and now had access to the RIGHT KNOWLEDGE.Ā Note at this point I barely was making N30k a month from offering my ads skillset on this job.
The next question now was to find a product I could start with and test this new found knowledge on. THE RIGHT KNOWLEDGE IS ONLY POWERFUL WHEN EXECUTED
Luck smiled again, when it dawned on me that my girlfriend’s sister had started an organic cosmetics brand doing the normal black soap everyone loved at that time. So I thought to myself if I could get sales, I wouldn’t need to pay for the products. She could do the deliveries and take her selling price while I removed my profits.
We agreed I would buy from her at N2500 per one, do deliveries at N2000 each and I set my price to sell at about N8,000. So I did all the setup as I was taught and started the ads.
Unknowing to me this would soon become a life changing moment.
Less than 12 hours after the 1st sale came, after another, after another!
I was in awe!
From making barely N30k a month in a state that all my goals were to make N100k a month, we did in the next 2 weeks from that day a whopping N1Million in sales value.
This was 10X my expectation and till today I have the screenshot!Ā
I used 2 weeks to make what I had not made in 4 years! My God was I in awe!
I couldnāt believe my eyes! At this point almost N300k was cooling in the account as my own net profits, and we were still making deliveries!
Fast forward to today, 6 years after I have sold almost 20,000 units of different products.
So I began to ask myself what changed? Why was I able to do in 2 weeks what I couldnāt in 4 years?!
